Steel Magnolias is a comedy-drama stage play by American writer Robert Harling. The play is about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. The title suggests that the "female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel". The play combines humor and comedy with a tragic storyline, and provides both comedic and mournful moments. In the end, it is deeply revealing of the powerful bond the women share.
